Your Mind Is Playing Tricks on You. Let’s Talk About False Progress.

The Mind Trick
Have you ever had a week where you felt like you were absolutely killing it in the gym, but when you stepped on the scale or looked in the mirror, nothing changed?
You start getting frustrated. You start thinking your metabolism is broken, or that your genetics are holding you back. You want to blame the program.
Let me tell you what is actually happening. Your mind is playing tricks on you, and you are falling for it.
Don’t Fall for It!
There is a psychological trap called moral licensing. In plain English, it means that when you do something good, your brain tries to reward you by letting you do something bad. Lasarov, W., & Hoffmann, S. (2020). Social Moral Licensing. Journal of Business Ethics, 165(1), 45–66. http://www.jstor.org/stable/45283869
You go to the gym. You work out hard for an hour. You sweat, your muscles burn, and you feel like an absolute champion. On the drive home, your brain says, "Good job today. You earned that extra slice of cheese, that handful of chips, or that sugary coffee."
So you eat it. You do not even think about it. You think you earned it because of how hard you worked.
Stick To The Facts
But here is the simple, honest math. You cannot out-work a bad diet. That one hour of sweating did not burn off the extra eight hundred calories you snuck in as a reward. You are working hard in the gym just to wipe out all your progress in the kitchen.
If you want real results, you have to stop letting your brain negotiate with you.
When you finish a brutal workout, the reward is the workout itself. The reward is the strength you built and the discipline you practiced. Food is fuel, not a trophy.
The next time your mind tries to tell you that you earned a cheat meal just because you showed up and lifted some heavy iron, I want you to pause. Look in the mirror and ask yourself. How badly do you want to hit your goals?
Stop rewarding your hard work with self-destruction.
No whining. Get your nutrition tight. Let’s get it.
